This bike is a recently completed 650B conversion. It started it's life as a 1960's era Belgian road bike. It now features a new fork, full compliment of braze-ons, custom rack / decalleur and fresh paint and decals.

Bike has a great provenance that closely follows my tenure in bike racing and the bicycle industry. Bike was imported in the mid 1960's by the shop that I worked at when I was a kid. It has only had two owners since then, and they're both my friends.

Offered as a complete bike for $2450

Or as frame, fork, rack, fenders, headset (Campagnolo NR), brake cailpers (Weinmann cantilevers w/ Kool Stop pads) and CLB brake hanger for $1950

The new fork was engineered to work properly with the frame geometry, and built with the Kaisei "Toei Special" imperal oval fork blades, and the new Compass 54mm fork crown.

The new fork has 65mm or rake, resulting in 35mm of trail, so this bike now has low trail geometry and is ideally suited for carrying a loaded bag on the front rack.

Bike has clearance for the 53mm wide Velo Orange Zeppelin fenders and the 650 x 42 Compass Babyshoe Pass Extra light tires.

Curved bridges were installed for a perfect fender line.

Cranks are vintage Stronglight 49d matched with modern Velo Orange 46 / 30 chain rings that feature ramps and pins.

The front rack is inspired by the work of my friend Peter Weigle.

The decaleur is my twist on the Jo Routens style and it is very easy to get the bag on and off (bag not included).

I thought that the Weinmann brakes were a cool choice for this bike since they're Belgian.

The front brake hanger is one of the cool CLB ones, that I profiled and polished.

The rear brake hanger was fabricated by me.

Stem is a Nitto Technomic Deluxe and the bars are VO Course which is very similar to the Compass Maes Parallel.

Campagnolo NR seat post / Flite Saddle

Hubs are Shimano 105 that have been converted to 8/9/10 spacing with 130mm OLD.

Rims are Velocity Synergy with the OCR rear. DT spokes.

Sram 12 - 32 10 speed cassette.

First generation Deore Rear Derailleur

XC comp Front Derailleur

Dia-Compe ENE down tube shifters

Tektro brake levers

Nothing on this bike is French threaded. BB & HS are English. SP is 27.2.

Professional paint by Vicious Cycles

Frame has been treated with JP Weigle Frame Saver

The reason I did this project was because it's such a cool bike that I have deep history with. I was inspired to give it a new life.

I hope that this bike goes to somebody who understands what it is, and appreciates the provenance.

Thanks for looking
